I encourage all of our members to consider using the recent amendments to the Divorce Act as a hook for marketing the Collaborative Process option in their practices. The changes encourage parents to reach parenting agreements by using out of court, consensual resolution processes and refers specifically to Collaborative as an option.
This should provide practitioners with a nice way to introduce Collaborative as an alternative to adversarial processes.
I have done a blog post about the changes and the OACP has issued a press release about the changes. One result was an opportunity for one of our members to appear on Rogers TV in Ottawa to discuss the changes.
Consider how you can use the changes as a way to increase awareness in your community.
