There is great interest in offering CP for less cost or even fixed fees. The challenge is how do we cut corners without cutting our services? One thing I do is try to avoid face to face meetings with my clients because they take more time than other modes of communication. I try to serve their needs by using email communications because it takes less time. If emails don’t work, then I try a phone call. We also sign the participation agreement in the lawyers’ offices to save time instead of at the first full team meeting. The challenge is to give our clients the full opportunity to experience a transformation experience and excellent process. We have to ensure they get the services they need but do so in an efficient way.

I am curious. Have you tried to streamline your process? What has worked? What has not worked? Let’s share ideas as to what we can do be more efficient.

What about using less expensive staff resources for some tasks? For example, my clerk will assist the parties with the gathering of their financial disclosure and preparing the document brief.

Brian, after doing your Streamline training (twice), I have tried to get a Streamline team together here in the west end of the city (Etobicoke to Oakville) area but the struggle has been to get family professionals involved. We don’t have enough of them or they are so busy that they don’t want to take on a new initiative.
